Plain Paint 2003
In March 2003, the Great Plains Art Collection in Lincoln, Nebraska presented 41 of Nadine's paintings from a series called Plain Paint.
Excerpts from the Artist's Statement:
Even though the hills and skies of Nebraska's Sandhills are the inspiration for these paintings, this series is about paint as much as it's about landscape. I am more interested in capturing the spirit of this unique area of the Plains than I am in showing detail.
Imagine you're standing on a hill and looking far into the distant landscape. But in this landscape there are no trees, houses, barns, fences, telephone poles, or roads. To read such a landscape you find yourself looking closely at the line of the horizon, the undulations of hills, the textures of grasses, and the color changes between land masses.
It's exactly how you read a painting.
