Plain Paint

In March 2004 the Christlieb Gallery in the Center of Great Plains Studies at UNL presented 41 paintings from this Pain Paint series.

 Excerpt from the Artist's Statement:

Even though the hills and skies of Nebraska's Sandhills are the inspiration for these paintings, this series is about paint as much as it's about landscape. I am more interested in capturing the spirit of this unique area of the Plains than I am in showing detail.

In the Sandhills you find yourself looking closely at the line of the horizon, the undulations of hills, the textures of grasses, and the color changes between land masses.

It's exactly how you read a painting.
