Cows On The Loose 2001
In June 2001, the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Nebraska presented 27 of Nadine's paintings from a series called Cows on the Loose.
Excerpts from the Artist's Statement:
The cows in these paintings have attitude, like the ones I knew on my family's ranch in the Sandhills.
Those cows were independent and free. They didn't have pet names, or at least not anything resembling an affectionate name. They weren't confined to pens. They weren't yoked. They didn't plod in a circle around a millstone all day.
So if there's any significant content or meaning to these paintings, it's about freedom. It's about feeling a little sassy and kicking up your heels.
